So I guess a lot of my ponderings come from talks and stuff I hear... Thursday night is CU so I'll probably post the main points from the talk or something that really made me think from the meeting.
At the moment we're going through the book of Ruth, and this week it was Ruth chapter 2.
The main theme of the talk was God's kindness, but one point which really stuck with me was that it was through the kindness that Naomi had shown ruth that she decides "Your God will be my God!" As though she is saying if your God is anything like you... I want to know him. This is a huge challenge to me... my life needs to show people what my God is like... otherwise is He really God of my life? And if as Christians our lives don't show what God is like... is it any wonder that people aren't interested in Christianity?
Gandhi said: I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.
Another point that really hit me was that in order to bless someone else, show kindness to them, we need to make a sacrifice. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice... his life... for us.... we need to sacrifice something of ourselves to communicate this messgae and make it real to other people.
