Ruth 2

So I guess a lot of my ponderings come from talks and stuff I hear... Thursday night is CU so I'll probably post the main points from the talk or something that really made me think from the meeting.

At the moment we're going through the book of Ruth, and this week it was Ruth chapter 2.

The main theme of the talk was God's kindness, but one point which really stuck with me was that it was through the kindness that Naomi had shown ruth that she decides "Your God will be my God!" As though she is saying if your God is anything like you... I want to know him. This is a huge challenge to me... my life needs to show people what my God is like... otherwise is He really God of my life? And if as Christians our lives don't show what God is like... is it any wonder that people aren't interested in Christianity?
Gandhi said: I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

Another point that really hit me was that in order to bless someone else, show kindness to them, we need to make a sacrifice. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice... his life... for us.... we need to sacrifice something of ourselves to communicate this messgae and make it real to other people.

On The Road Marked With Suffering...

And through the storm
Yet I will praise you
Despite it all
Yet I will sing
Through good and bad
Yet I will worship
For you remain the same

You are the voice of hope
The anchor of my soul
Where there seems to be no way
You make it possible

This song came on my iPod as I was walking to lectures today. I've heard a lot about this recently, a lot of songs talk about how we will still worship and praise God when we're going through difficult times. When most things are going well in our lives it's so easy to sing these words... but in reality, how easy is it to praise God when we're finding things difficult?
I think it is difficult, but if we are persistent in reminding ourselves that God is the anchor of our souls we will gradually be able to see the way which God has made possible for us.
Praise God... His steadfast love endures forever!

Here I Am

Sometimes there will be no where to hide, and no where to rest.
The challenge is to remain faithful.

Matthew 8:20

Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

A Fresh Start.... Once Again

I have no idea how many times I will re-start blogging.... hopefully it will last this time.
I'm going to Germany for a year starting in August, and I really want to keep a blog up-to-date whilst there so my friends can keep up with what I'm doing, so I'm going to try and get into the habit of doing one now.
I've decided to keep this upto date mainly with short things, like thoughts, things that have inspired me/encouraged me... hopefully they will encourage/inspire you too! :)
